laut info sind diese vier dänen in ihrer heimat schon eine feste größe. ihr anliegen ist das schaffen eines gesamtkunstwerkes, das musik, film, grafik und design verbindet. viel ideologie also. überhaupt hat man sich viel gedanken gemacht. in diesem zusammenhang möchte ich euch den text des infos nicht vorenthalten: "joycehotel is exploring the conflict between the heart and the mind by undressing the complexity of emotions. …music and strong lyrics that pull in and provoke the listener to make up his or her own mind. there are no easy giveaways…in the name you find the soothing and strangely naive word: joy. a feeling often wanted but perhaps rarely really obtained? …hotel. a physical place to go. but not to stay…" usw.
o ha! dann das artwork, das irgendwie an pink floyd´s "the wall" mit etwas radiohead artwork zur "kid a" zeit erinnert. oh ha, o ha! musikalisch werden vorbilder wie radiohead und noch ein paar andere angeführt, die aber nicht so wichtig sind, da hier radiohead allzu deutlich hervorsticht, wenn der sänger recht offensichtlich versucht wie thom yorke zu klingen oder man nicht nur einmal den radiohead song benennen kann, an den das gerade laufende stück erinnert.
alles sehr ambitioniert! doch sollten joycehotel ihre energie dazu nutzen, ihren eigenen stil nicht nur musikalisch, sondern auch visuell zu entwickeln. dann kommt bestimmt mehr als ein etwas beiläufiges werk heraus.
